Fascial Stretch Therapy
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a neuromyofascial manual therapy that focuses on the connective tissue system rather than an isolated muscle. Fascia is the connective tissue system of the body that penetrates through the body and wraps around muscles, tendons, joints, arteries, veins, organs, and everything else in your body. An optimal stretch is achieved by lengthening the tissue from deep inside the joint capsule to the origin of the muscle all the way through the insertion and all the connective tissues in between. It is a pain-free method of stretching that can provide almost instant results.
This type of assisted stretching technique is performed by a Certified Fascia Stretch Therapist with the client on a treatment table. When assisted stretching takes place on a treatment table, comfortable straps are used to stabilize the limb that is not being worked on, thus facilitating client relaxation, and enhancing the effectiveness of the actions of the practitioner.
The practitioner and client work together and communicate throughout the session to achieve the most beneficial outcome possible for the client. Pain is never allowed and considered a negative response.
Mobility is often improved after the first session. The practitioner will give the client exercises to help maintain the achieved results from the session. More than one session is normally recommended. Each treatment plan varies with each client.
